Legal Basis and Purpose of Processing Personal Data
The legal bases for processing personal data are:
- the data subject’s consent to the processing of personal data
- the legitimate interest of the controller (customer relationship)
- a contractual relationship between the data subject and the controller
The purpose of processing personal data is to maintain contact with members and to provide information about the association. Data may also be used for marketing purposes if the person has given consent.
What Personal Data We Collect and Why
We store information about our members in our membership register. We also collect personal data when people register for events or place online shop orders. Data may be used for marketing purposes if the person has given consent.
Membership Register
We maintain our membership register in the Zoho service. When joining, we collect organization-related details (name, business ID, contact details, date of establishment, number of employees, billing information, and possible referrer) as well as the contact details of the contact person(s).
Events
Registration for Code from Finland’s events can be done via the Lyyti service, by email, or via Slack message. Through Lyyti, we collect the registrant’s contact information and whether their organization is a member of Code from Finland.
Online Shops
Code from Finland operates two online shops:
- Holvi shop: for paying membership fees and ordering diplomas
- Brandix shop: for ordering merchandise
The shops collect the necessary information to deliver the ordered products (name, contact details, payment information).
Email Marketing
For sending newsletters and marketing messages, we use Liana.
Regular Sources of Data
Information stored in the customer register is obtained from the customer, for example, via contact forms, email, phone, social media channels, contracts, customer meetings, and other situations in which the customer provides their information.
Cookies
We use cookies on this website to ensure functionality and to analyze traffic. When you visit our website, cookies may be stored on your device. Cookies are small text files that store data. For example, a cookie can record whether you have closed the cookie notice by accepting cookies. Without these files, full functionality of the site and visitor analytics would not be possible.

Data Retention Period
Membership register data is stored for the duration of the membership. Billing information is retained for the period required by accounting legislation.
Your Rights Regarding Your Data
The data subject has the right to:
- check the information stored about them in the register
- request the correction of any incorrect or incomplete data
- request the deletion of their data if it is no longer needed or has been processed unlawfully
If a person wishes to review or correct their stored data, the request must be sent in writing to the controller (address: info@koodiasuomesta.fi). The controller may, if necessary, ask the requester to prove their identity. The controller will respond to the request within the time limits set by the EU GDPR.
